Is absence due to adverse weather conditions paid?  

Civil Protection has been registering several incidents due to adverse weather conditions, which are expected to continue. But is an absence from work due to bad weather considered justified and entitle to payment?

Until 10:00 PM on the 27th, 296 occurrences related to bad weather were counted. If you were unable to travel to your workplace due to extreme weather conditions, you can justify your absence.

According to DECO PROTeste, as read on Notícias ao Minuto, "when workers are unable to attend work due to adverse weather phenomena, they can justify their absence." Additionally, it clarifies that this absence "cannot result in loss of pay".

The Labor Code states that absences due to reasons beyond the worker's control, such as floods preventing access to public transportation, must be accepted as justified by the employer.
