"Not everything is a good opportunity" is the warning from DECO about Black Friday.

Black Friday is a day marked by numerous discounts and the campaigns for this day started already at the end of October, extending until December.

However, it is important to be careful about some aspects when buying on this day. If you want to take advantage of buying Christmas gifts or products you've been yearning for, DECO PROteste warns you to be attentive as there are products that were cheaper less than a month ago.

This concern is pointed out by DECO, cited by Notícias ao Minuto, which states that "not everything is a good opportunity." In an analysis carried out by the association, at the start of Black Friday campaigns from some of the main online stores, such as El Corte Inglés, FNAC, Media Markt, and Worten, it was possible to verify that "most retailers continue to offer some discounts that bypass sales laws with price reductions, similar to what was detected in 2022 and 2023."

According to the same analysis, "some stores continue to compare their prices with supposed recommended selling prices by manufacturers, producers, or suppliers (SRP), implying that they are offering greater discounts than they actually are." And other stores, on the days of the analysis, "were not complying with the law that dictates that, in order to advertise a promotion, they must consider the lowest price practiced in the last 30 consecutive days to apply the discount."

"As an example, DECO shows that Worten announced a direct discount of 40 euros on a product that was already being sold at the same price, while Media Markt also announced a discount on a mobile phone that was 29 euros cheaper in the last 21 days. Meanwhile, a mobile phone from FNAC was sold 49 euros cheaper days before the campaign, while El Corte Inglés offered a discount on the highest price of the last 30 days," the news reads.
